It is Monday night, late, and I couldn't sleep. All kinds of things are running through my head.
"How many pairs of jeans do I REALLY need?" "Is it really going to be as warm as Dr. Reames says?" "What if I am claustraphobic and flying is just NOT my thing?" .... On top of all this, I still have my last powerpoint to finish before the meeting tomorrow and so many people to see before I leave! Ugh, it just all seems so overwhelming.
I asked Aaron today if I am insane. I think it has finally hit me that this time next week I will be in a classroom at a Russian University. I'll be walking the streets of a not only unfamiliar city, but one in which very few people will even understand me. He told me I was crazy, but made me feel better telling me that it I was actually doing a brave thing. Going without a single friend or someone close to me. Sure there are 19 other ASU students, but only 4 of them that I even know their full name. I'm sure by the time I get back I'll know more about all of them than I ever wanted, but its still pretty scary.
I guess I'll get to work on that other PowerPoint that is due tomorrow. You know me and the Munday HS class of 2006.... "If it wasn't for the last minute a lot of things would never get done."

It will be okay. I know you will make the most of the experience. The experience of a lifetime. You are brave, no doubt about it. We're proud of you. There are no parents any prouder of their 'perfect' children than we are. Now that you've set this blog up, just for me, don't forget I expect an entry, email or phone call EVERY DAY so I can share in your fun. Go in peace, be wise and safe. I promise, everything will be fine, totally different and just plain, great. love, mama
Good Luck, I know you will do great!
I am with Mom and Dad.... they are doing fine. We love you. Have a great trip.
Mamma Steph
Cute pics of Ruger. As I write this, you still have about 4 hrs of the first leg of the flight. ugh I'm glad some of us are home. mama
Just in case your 1st momma didn't tell you before you left - Stay AWAY from the male species of the blue-eyed Russians and the Vodka. Neither would be a good thing. We do not need you to come back here to redneckville and introduce yourself, with slurred speech, as Kaitlyn 'Six' Baryshnikov. Just trust me on this one.
I am very glad that you arrived safely and know that you are going to have the experience of a lifetime. Kaitlyn, I am so proud of you. You embrace life and just go for it!!!
Have a great time and keep us posted.
Love you!!!!
